Founded in 2003, BYD Auto is a subsidiary of BYD Corporation, whose name stands for "Build Your Dreams".

BYD Corporation, created in 1995, initially produced electric bicycles, forklift trucks and rechargeable batteries, and expanded its scope to include buses, lorries, cars and solar panels.

Over the last decade, the company has consolidated a solid position in the automotive market, recording sales of more than 400,000 vehicles globally each year, with projections to exceed the 500,000 mark.
