The new public examination mould has raised a lot of questions for candidates about how to prepare and what to study for the objective test. However, contrary to what many people think, the Unified National Competition aims to simplify the process.
The CNU will be held on 5 May 2024, with simultaneous competitions in all Brazilian states. A total of 220 cities will host this selection process.
The intention of bringing the selection process to multiple cities in the country is to facilitate access to public positions, providing a more accessible and economical way for candidates to take part in the exams in their localities, without requiring long journeys.
Now that it's clear how the objective test will be conducted, you also need to understand what will be covered and what to study to prepare for the CNU.
Divided into 8 blocks, the Unified National Competition brings exclusive content to each of the thematic axes. In other words, it is extremely important that the candidate reads the notice carefully to find out what subjects will be covered in each of the blocks.
In addition to the specific content, all the blocks have some general knowledge as common themes, i.e. subjects that will be covered in all the axes regardless of the block.
CNU candidates will be competing for more than 6,000 vacancies divided into 8 thematic blocks, with salaries that can reach almost 23,000 reais, and the dream of financial and professional stability.

Unified National Competition: how it will work
The Unified National Competition (CNU) brought a new model to the country's public competitions, simplifying the process with the aim of contributing to equal opportunities.
The new model proposes simultaneous competitions throughout Brazil. A total of 220 cities have been selected to host the selection process, subdivided into all regions of Brazil.

The objective test will be held on 5 May 2024 throughout Brazil, and candidates who have registered for the CNU can still prepare for the exam and secure their dream job in the public sector.
Division of blocks
The CNU is divided into 8 large blocks with exclusive content in each one:
- Block 1: Infrastructure, Exact Sciences and Engineering
- Block 2: Technology, Data and Information
- Block 3: Environmental, Agricultural and Biological
- Block 4: Labour and Employee Health
- Block 5: Education, Health, Social Development and Human Rights
- Block 6: Economic Sectors and Regulation
- Block 7: Government Management and Public Administration
- Block 8: Intermediate Level
How to prepare for the CNU
As the Unified National Competition is divided into eight blocks, it is important that candidates pay attention not only to the general knowledge required in the objective test, but also to the weight of the content of each thematic axis.
Once the thematic axes have been identified and selected, attention needs to be focused on the most relevant content or the content in which the candidate has the greatest difficulty. In other words, you need to strengthen your weak points and make your strong points even stronger.

What to study?
One of the biggest doubts candidates have is about the content they need to study. To prepare for the Unified National Competition, you need to be aware of the general knowledge subjects and the specific themes of each block.
General knowledge
General knowledge is a subject that is present in all 8 thematic blocks, which means that regardless of the candidate's block, it is necessary to study the following subjects:

- Public Policy
- Public Finance
- Challenges of the rule of law: democracy and citizenship
- Federal public administration
Specific knowledge
Block 1 - Infrastructure, Exact Sciences and Engineering
- Cartographic engineering and geoprocessing;
- Environmental and technological management, sustainability and energy;
- Government management and public governance;
- Planning and management of works, public infrastructure policies and accessibility;
- Cartographic engineering;
- Public policies.
Block 2 - Technology, Data and Information
- Software development;
- Information technology management and support;
- Government management and public governance;
- Decision support, artificial intelligence and quantitative methods;
- Public policies.
Block 3 - Environment, Agriculture and Biology
- Characterising the landscape in rural areas;
- Agricultural production practices in rural areas;
- Government management and public governance;
- Sustainable development in rural areas;

Block 4 - Work and Employee Health
- Sociology and psychology applied to work;
- Workers' health and safety;
- Government management and public governance;
- Labour law;
- Public policies.
Block 5 - Education, Health, Social Development and Human Rights
- Research and evaluation;
- Human rights, rights of native peoples and traditional populations;
- Public policies: education, science and technology and justice;

Block 6 - Economic Sectors and Regulation
- Economy, solidarity economy and the international context;
- Public policies and data analysis;

- English;
- Public budget, accounting and regulation.
Block 7 - Government Management and Public Administration
- Public policies and notions of statistics;
- Financial and budgetary administration, public accounting and procurement in public administration;
- Government management and public governance: strategy, people, projects and processes;
- Communication, document management, transparency and data protection;
- Government management and public governance: risks, innovation, participation, logistics and assets.
Block 8 - Intermediate Level
- Portuguese language;
- Notions of law;
- Maths;
